ACCESSIBILITY NEEDS

We ask any patrons requesting assistance getting down the aisles to let us know in advance if possible so we can make every effort to accommodate. Alleyway is fully accessible, but wheelchair seating may only be available in the first row. Just let our box office staff know and we'll take care of you!

LATE SEATING

Performances begin on time. Patrons not in their seat at the start of a performance will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager. Depending on the production, this may mean patrons will have to wait in the lobby or back of the theatre until a suitable break in the performance. In select cases, late seating will not be permitted. In all cases, there is no refund available for late seating.

SOLD OUT PERFORMANCES

In the event of sold out performances, the box office will begin a waiting list for SRO tickets. This list will begin one hour prior to the performance, or once the performance has sold out. Based on availability, a limited number of SRO tickets may be sold 30 minutes prior to showtime when the performance is sold out. $25, cash only. Patrons must join the list and purchase in person. No calls or emails will be accepted.

CANCELLATIONS

Affected ticketholders will be contacted as soon as possible via email or text if a change in the performance schedule occurs.

Performances at the Alleyway are only cancelled in the case of a driving ban in the City of Buffalo. Patrons who choose not to see a performance due to weather may not be granted refunds or exchanges.

ALL SALES ARE FINAL

All sales are final. There are no refunds. Discounts cannot be applied retroactively. Exchanged tickets are subject to an additional fee. All productions, artists, courses, faculty, and schedules are subject to change without notice. In the event of a cancellation for which there is no rescheduled date, a patron credit will be issued in the form of a gift card, or a refund may be issued at the discretion of the management. Contact us by phone to inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price and are not eligible for refunds or exchanges.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The ticket holder assumes all risk and danger incidental to the event, class, or performance whether occurring prior to, during, or after, including risk for transmission of viruses. The ticket holder agrees that the management, its agents, and the performers, artists, faculty, and staff are not responsible or liable for any injuries resulting from such causes.

No outside alcohol or food are permitted; no weapons or drugs are permitted. No recording devices, still cameras, or video cameras are permitted, and no recording or transmission of the event is permitted.

All patrons, students, ticket holders, and/or their guests consent to the use of their image and likeness to be displayed, transmitted and/or reproduced in any form (audio, visual, etc) for publicity, marketing, advertising, and other purposes in perpetuity.

Management reserves the right to refuse admission or eject any person whose conduct is deemed disorderly, or who fails to comply with the terms and conditions herein, or as stipulated by current local, state and/or federal guidelines and requirements.

WHERE IS ALLEYWAY and where to park?

The Alleyway building main entrance is on Curtain Up Alley which is the pedestrian alley connecting Pearl and Main Streets running along the south side of our building.

Plenty of parking is available at city meters and in the many nearby lots serving the Theatre District. At certain times, the Theatre District can be very busy, and parking lots can be full. More parking details are available here.

public transportation

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority​ (NFTA) offers a variety of affordable public transit options to and around Downtown. See NFTA's Metro Bus & Rail page​ with links to Schedules,Trip Planner, the System Map, and the Smart Traveler​ real time bus info.

Check out NFTA's new Token Transit App!​ You can pay Metro Bus or rail fare quickly and easily with your smartphone. ​ Don't have exact change? No problem! Use the Token Transit App to purchase tickets using your credit or debit card. ​ Tickets can be purchased for immediate use or stored for future trips. ​

The NFTA operates a Metro Bus fleet that services the entire region, and a light rail rapid transit system along Main Street from the Buffalo waterfront to University Station in Kenmore. Travel on the aboveground portion of the light rail is free. Visitors may also take advantage of the NFTA Metro Park and Ride Transit Center locations. Travelers leave their vehicles at a select location in the outer ring suburbs and board a Metro Bus to access Downtown. Additionally, visitors may park in the north end of Downtown and use the light rail rapid transit system to access large-scale special events taking place at KeyBank Center, Sahlen Field, Canalside, or other venue near the water.

For out-of-town guests, public transit is the best way to get to and from the airport. Metro Bus service from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport is quick, inexpensive, and easy to use. The Airport-Downtown Express shuttle runs non-stop service between the airport and Downtown.

BIKE BUFFALO!

Buffalo is quickly becoming a bicycle dream city. The City of Buffalo is working to support bike commuting with additional facilities, including more than 90 miles (and growing) of marked bike lanes, bike racks, and future priority projects designed to increase safe bicycling options.

The advocacy organization GObike Buffalo​ is working to build a thriving, dynamic, and connected Buffalo by promoting biking, alternative transportation options, and improved streetscapes. The advocacy organization is working to create positive impacts on health, the environment, our streets, and overall quality of life for residents.

For visitors who want to explore all that Downtown has to offer by bike, Reddy Bikeshare​ bicycles are available at several locations throughout Downtown from April to November. Reddy bikes are easily available on a short-term basis and give users the flexibility to return a bike to any location. ​

can i take the bus?

The Alleyway complex is a former Greyhound Bus Terminal built in 1941. What better way to travel than by bus? To discover multiple departures daily from nearby cities, click here.

Bus travel is just 2:45 hours from Toronto or 1:30 from Rochester and 30 minutes from Niagara Falls!

DRIVING FROM CLEVELAND, PITTSBURGH AND TORONTO

From Cleveland, it's a quick 3 hour drive on the I-90 East.
From Pittsburgh, follow I-79 North to I-90 East for just 3 hours 15 minutes.

Then, take the 190-N exit and get off at Elm Street. Follow Elm to the end, turn left on Goddell Street and then right on Main. Pass the light at Tupper and you'll see us on the left hand side!

Coming from Toronto, plan a 2 hour trip and leave time in case of Bridge traffic. Follow the Gardiner Expressway W to the QEW. Follow the QEW continuing to America and the Peace Bridge. Then, take the ramp for I-190 South to get off at Elm Street. Follow Elm to the end, turn left on Goddell Street and then right on Main. Pass the light at Tupper and you'll see us on the left hand side!

the district

The Theatre District in downtown Buffalo, New York is the center of Buffalo's theater scene, bounded roughly by Washington, Tupper, Pearl and Chippewa Streets. There were over 50 theaters in the district during the early 20th Century when the city was called the "Gateway to the West," and served by railroads and the new Erie Canal.

Now, the Erie Canal is celebrating its bicentennial, and the district includes multiple theatres, restaurants, hotels, and businesses.

THEATRE DISTRICT ASSOCIATION OF WESTERN NEW YORK, INC.

Founded in 1979, TDA is a not-for-profit community association dedicated to the promotion of the health and well-being of Buffalo’s neighborhood known as the Theatre District.

It is our goal to foster public awareness and appreciation of the unique aspects of the Theatre District as an urban cultural neighborhood and to provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas which may affect the welfare of the District and its members and to promote dialogue with other agencies or organizations which may impact our neighborhood.

TDA focuses attention on neighborhood cleanup and physical improvement, and encourages programs for safety and security.

TDA also participates in the development and production of public events which showcase the Theatre District and promote its economic development and growth.

Downtown’s metered spots are free​ on weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Otherwise, short-term rates are priced at $1.00 per hour based on location. All meters accept quarters, or you can use your debit/credit card to purchase metered parking at any pay-and-display parking machine. Tech-savvy individuals may find the Buffalo Roam parking app to be the most convenient way to pay for metered parking. Simply download the app to make quick payments from your smartphone. The app even sends you notifications when your session is about to expire and lets you extend your session right from your phone. ​

Many off-street parking options are available Downtown. These include commercial, non-commercial, private, and public surface lots and ramps. Buffalo Civic Auto Ramps, works in partnership with the City of Buffalo to provide safe, affordable, high-quality public parking at a reasonable cost. BCAR ramps are scattered throughout the area and offer a variety of options for parking, including hourly, day, evening, and monthly spaces.
